This publication originally started as a regular issue of Reverse Mortgage Magazine (December, 2009), created for and published on behalf of the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders’ Association. It featured actual first-hand stories of Reverse Mortgage customers and their experiences – both good and bad – with their loans. The issue proved so popular with the subscribers that it was decided that a “Buyer’s guide” could be created from these stories with a small amount of additional information and modification.

The subsequent “guide to reverse mortgages” was then reprinted some months after the original issue for distribution to a multitude of Reverse Mortgage brokers and lenders. It contained not only the stories, but also information about where to find out more about Reverse Mortgages and the Government Agencies which oversee the market and regulate lenders.

Inside, each story represented a state, so each was given a small graphic of a state that corresponded, while pullquotes were placed over roadmaps of the area where each borrower lived.
