BankInnovation 2011/2

BankInnovation has been a leading social network and banking blog since 2008, and enjoys a substantial following in the banking and tech worlds.

Established in 2007 as BankNet360, I presided over the site’s migration to a NING network in 2008, with a major style update in 2010. In late 2011, I refreshed the site again, this time migrating it to WordPress – a far more user-friendly CMS all around and easier to customize as well. Though in part based on an existing theme, BankInnovation became essentially a native site as heavy php and css customization drove the project far away from its foundation.

After this change, BankInnovation’s audience grew exponentially – to the point of regularly recording more than 90,000 hits per month. Demand for the site was so great that it required it’s own dedicated server beginning in early 2013.

The strength of BankInnovation’s audience allowed for the launch of a successful Banking/Mobile Payments conference with derived visuals that has convened annually since 2012.
