Cargo Facts Asia 2012

Cargo Facts Asia was the first Air Cargo Management Group conference to be formally held outside the United States – specifically in Hong Kong, in partnership with the Hong Kong Airport Authority.  As such, the site needed  not only a great deal of visual flair – to attract interest and to convey the atmosphere of Hong Kong and the conference venue – but also had to be navigable entirely in Chinese.

Though the conference was presented in English, it was necessary to attract attendees and delegates from Hong Kong and Taiwan – where text is typically in traditional Chinese, as well as mainland China, where text is almost always presented in simplified Chinese.  Dual translations were done, and a special page was set up where potential attendees could navigate the site entirely in both Chinese text versions.

Visuals were styled, at first, to recall the famous Hong Kong Kai-Tak airport approach, iconic in the aviation world, but with modern images as well, to convey the cargo operations at Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok Airport – the highest-volume cargo airport in the world which replaced Kai Tak in 1998.  Much of the photography, including the Boeing 777 image used above, was also original.
