Created in 2004 for Nourison, this ad posed a unique challenge. Broadloom rugs are patterns that can be used to cover large, irregular spaces like Hotel ballrooms, but the expense of creating a broadloom rug for an advertising shot would be astronomical – so the entire floor in this room is fake – created from two photographs, one of the central pattern and another of the border pattern. All the shadows are also fake – laid over carefully onto the fake floor. Originally, this room had a wood floor.
