Permanently Grounded

Posted on Jan 5, 2014 by in aircraft 2014

This Douglas DC-3 was formerly displayed in Seattle’s Museum of Flight, until being replaced by another DC-3 in 1997. This aircraft was used as a parts donor for the restoration of the one currently on display, and then left semi-abandoned at the south end of Boeing field, where it has sat for many years. Built for Eastern Airlines but not taken up, this aircraft flew passengers for Delta, United, and North Central Airlines until 1968 when it went into private hands.
