The OldMotors Channel

The social media channel that took over my life.

OldMotors is an online social history magazine dedicated to telling the stories of the industrial and societal forces behind automobiles and often the people who brought them to life; from the dawn of motoring to the present day. The channel is particularly focused on under-reported stories or lesser known vehicles.

This project began as an Instagram account but, at the request of readers for more long form content, branched out onto Facebook and finaly into a dedicated website launched at the end of 2019. Daily short-form histories are posted on Instagram and longer versions on Facebook, with full features on the website.

The histories presented were inspired by by Lord Montagu and Michael Sedgewick’s Lost Causes of Motoring series, Robert A. Caro’s The Power Broker, and John Newhouse’s The Sporty Game, and the works of L.J.K. Setright, among many other great reads about automotive, industrial, and social history.

I never expected that 70-90,000 people a month would read such words, but here we are.

Check out the website for yourself at OldMotors.net.
